FAQs

Q: How old should my dog/cat be to receive its immunization shots?
A: Most vets recommend starting when the animal is about six weeks old. We provide these shots routinely at any age.

Q: How can I tell if my pet has worms?
A: If you bring in a stool sample, we can check for worms through a microscope. To test for heartworms, we will require a blood test. These parasites can be highly detrimental to your pet's health, so we take every preventive measure possible and treat any detected parasites right away.

Q: Is there an at-home method to check for worms?
A: If you notice small white segments around your pet's legs or tail, you are probably seeing parts of tapeworms that get stuck in your pet's hair during bowel movements. Bring in a segment, and we'll test it to see what kind of tapeworm your pet has so we can de-worm him or her right away. (Note: A dog scooting its rear across the floor can also be indicative of tapeworms.)

Q: At what age should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
A:  Most vets recommend having your animal spayed or neutered at about five months. If you adopt an adult who has not been treated to control the pet population, we can perform this important procedure.

Q: My pet just licked some antifreeze on the driveway. What should I do?
A: In certain amounts, antifreeze is toxic to many animals. We recommend you immediately bring your animal to the clinic for treatment.
